| About the stephen ashmore gallery
Stephen Ashmore was born in 1952 in Smethwick in the industrial heartland of England, when most of his peers were intent on getting jobs in foundries and engineering; Stephen was intent in finding an outlet for his creative talents and subsequently found his way to college to study photography and other media. On leaving college Stephen soon found that his independence of spirit meant that he was not cut out to work for others and he soon opened his own photographic studio in Birmingham where his creativity, passion for the subject and work rate soon won him a loyal following amongst the city’s advertising and creative community. This gave him the opportunity to work on many leading brands such as Bass, Boots, Cadburys, Coca Cola, Daihatsu, Kenco, Marks & Spencer, Schweppes and Volvo, as well as working with other clients in craft industries such a fine china (including Royal Doulton, Aynsley), pottery (including Denby), and cut glass (including Edinburgh Crystal, Tutbury Crystal, Galway Crystal). Photography helped to shape art in the twentieth century and now, in the twenty first century it is coming to dominate it with artworks commanding unprecedented prices. With the advent of digital photography, Stephen has been able to combine his lifetimes experience behind the lens with a love of landscapes and architecture to create and manipulate original images. Although Stephen now lives in a cottage in a small village in rural Staffordshire with his wife, two children and a very boisterous dog, his travels take him around Europe to provide inspiration and motivate the next collection of work The original images captured and created by Stephen are produced in limited editions.
